How is practice time counted?
Resonance counts practice-minutes — an estimate of how much Gurbani you actually engage with, weighted by how completely and attentively you do it. It is not a stopwatch of time spent in the app, so the minutes counted can differ from the time you felt you spent.
Why they differ:
- It follows the words, not the clock. Re-reading, replaying a game, pausing or thinking doesn't multiply the count — a passage is worth its reciting time.
- Longer counts for more. A longer recension (Tradition) is more to recite, so it earns proportionally more — the estimates update with your choice.
- Partial counts proportionally. Read or complete part of something and you earn that share.
- A daily repeat tapers. The second time through the same thing in one day earns a little less, to reward range over grinding.
- A read rushed through is set aside. Scrolling to the end in seconds doesn't count — a slow, focused reader is never penalised.
