ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਇਆ। ਓਅੰਕਾਰਿ ਅਕਾਰੁ ਪਰਗਟੀ ਆਇਆ। ਪੰਚ ਤਤ ਵਿਸਥਾਰੁ ਚਲਤੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ। ਖਾਣੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਚਾਰਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ। ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ। ਸਚੁ ਨਾਉ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥

guramukh ekaṅkār āp upāiā | oaṅkār akār paragaṭī āiā | pañch tat visathār chalat rachāiā | khāṇī bāṇī chār jagat upāiā | kudarat agam apār ant na pāiā | sach nāu karatār sach samāiā |1|

The Gurmukh One-Creator brought Himself forth. Out of Onkar, the one sound, form was made plain. Spreading out the five elements, He staged the play. The four ways of being born, the four kinds of speech — He made the world. His power is past reaching and boundless, and its end is not found. True is the Name of the Creator, merged into Truth.

ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਜੂਨਿ ਫੇਰਿ ਫਿਰਾਇਆ। ਮਾਣਸ ਜਨਮੁ ਦੁਲੰਭ ਕਰਮੀ ਪਾਇਆ। ਉਤਮੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪੰਥੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ। ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਰਹਰਾਸਿ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਇਆ। ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨੁ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਸਚੁ ਦਿੜਾਇਆ। ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਲਿਵਲੀਣੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਭਾਇਆ ॥੨॥

lakh chaurāsīh jūn pher phirāiā | māṇas janam dulambh karamī pāiā | utam guramukh panth āp gavāiā | sādhasaṅgat raharās pairī pāiā | nām dān isanān sach diṛāiā | sabad surat livalīṇ bhāṇā bhāiā |2|

Through eight million four hundred thousand kinds of life He spins the soul round and round. The rare human birth is given by grace. Highest is the Gurmukh path — the losing of the self. The holy company is the way; he falls at the feet. Name, giving and washing — Truth is made firm. Awareness merged in the Word, he loves God's Will.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੁਘੜ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਮਝਾਇਆ। ਮਿਹਮਾਣੀ ਮਿਹਮਾਣੁ ਮਜਲਸਿ ਆਇਆ। ਖਾਵਾਲੇ ਸੋ ਖਾਣੁ ਪੀਐ ਪੀਆਇਆ। ਕਰੈ ਨ ਗਰਬੁ ਗੁਮਾਣੁ ਹਸੈ ਹਸਾਇਆ। ਪਾਹੁਨੜਾ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਕਾਜੁ ਸੁਹਾਇਆ। ਮਜਲਸ ਕਰਿ ਹੈਰਾਣੁ ਉਠਿ ਸਿਧਾਇਆ ॥੩॥

guramukh sughaṛ sujāṇ gur samajhāiā | mihamāṇī mihamāṇ majalas āiā | khāvāle so khāṇ pīai pīāiā | karai na garab gumāṇ hasai hasāiā | pāhunaṛā paravāṇ kāj suhāiā | majalas kar hairāṇ uṭh sidhāiā |3|

The Gurmukh, quick and wise, is taught by the Guru. A guest at the feast, he has come as a visitor. He eats what he is fed and drinks what he is given. He takes no pride and no conceit, and laughs when he is made to laugh. An honoured guest, his task well done, he astonishes the gathering, and then rises and goes.

ਗੋਇਲੜਾ ਦਿਨ ਚਾਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਣੀਐ। ਮੰਝੀ ਲੈ ਮਿਹਵਾਰਿ ਚੋਜ ਵਿਡਾਣੀਐ। ਵਰਸੈ ਨਿਝਰ ਧਾਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵਾਣੀਐ। ਵੰਝੁਲੀਐ ਝੀਗਾਰਿ ਮਜਲਸ ਮਾਣੀਐ। ਗਾਵਣਿ ਮਾਝ ਮਲਾਰਿ ਸੁਘੜੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੀਐ। ਹਉਮੈ ਗਰਬੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿ ਆਣੀਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ਸਚਿ ਸਿਞਾਣੀਐ ॥੪॥

goilaṛā din chār guramukh jāṇīai | mañjhī lai mihavār choj viḍāṇīai | varasai nijhar dhār ammrit vāṇīai | vañjhulīai jhīgār majalas māṇīai | gāvaṇ mājh malār sughaṛ sujāṇīai | haumai garab nivār man vas āṇīai | guramukh sabad vīchār sach siñāṇīai |4|

Know the Gurmukh's life as four days in a summer pasture. Taking the herd out to graze, wonderful is the play. It rains down the endless stream of nectar-speech. On the flute's soft note the gathering is enjoyed. They sing in the rainy-season melodies, quick and wise. Throwing off pride and self-importance, the mind is brought under control. The Gurmukh, thinking on the Word, is known by Truth.

ਵਾਟ ਵਟਾਊ ਰਾਤਿ ਸਰਾਈਂ ਵਸਿਆ। ਉਠ ਚਲਿਆ ਪਰਭਾਤਿ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਦਸਿਆ। ਨਾਹਿ ਪਰਾਈ ਤਾਤਿ ਨ ਚਿਤਿ ਰਹਸਿਆ। ਮੁਏ ਨ ਪੁਛੈ ਜਾਤਿ ਵਿਵਾਹਿ ਨ ਹਸਿਆ। ਦਾਤਾ ਕਰੈ ਜੁ ਦਾਤਿ ਨ ਭੁਖਾ ਤਸਿਆ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਿਮਰਣੁ ਵਾਤਿ ਕਮਲ ਵਿਗਸਿਆ ॥੫॥

vāṭ vaṭāū rāt sarāīn vasiā | uṭh chaliā parabhāt mārag dasiā | nāh parāī tāt na chit rahasiā | mue na puchhai jāt vivāh na hasiā | dātā karai ju dāt na bhukhā tasiā | guramukh simaraṇ vāt kamal vigasiā |5|

A traveller on the road stays the night at an inn; at dawn he gets up and goes, and is shown his way. He carries no envy of others, and lets nothing linger in his heart. He does not ask the caste of the dead, and does not laugh at a wedding. He takes what the Giver gives, neither hungry nor thirsty. The Gurmukh's remembrance is on his lips, and the lotus of his heart opens.

ਦੀਵਾਲੀ ਦੀ ਰਾਤਿ ਦੀਵੇ ਬਾਲੀਅਨਿ। ਤਾਰੇ ਜਾਤਿ ਸਨਾਤਿ ਅੰਬਰਿ ਭਾਲੀਅਨਿ। ਫੁਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਗਾਤਿ ਚੁਣਿ ਚੁਣਿ ਚਾਲੀਅਨਿ। ਤੀਰਥਿ ਜਾਤੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਨੈਣ ਨਿਹਾਲੀਅਨਿ। ਹਰਿਚੰਦਉਰੀ ਝਾਤਿ ਵਸਾਇ ਉਚਾਲੀਅਨਿ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਦਾਤਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮ੍ਹਾਲੀਅਨਿ ॥੬॥

dīvālī dī rāt dīve bālīan | tāre jāt sanāt ambar bhālīan | phulān dī bāgāt chuṇ chuṇ chālīan | tīrath jātī jāt naiṇ nihālīan | harichandaurī jhāt vasāi uchālīan | guramukh sukh phal dāt sabad samhālīan |6|

On the night of Diwali the lamps are lit; the stars, high and low, are seen in the sky; the flower-gardens are picked bloom by bloom; the pilgrim crowds are seen with the eyes; the make-believe city is set up and struck down again. The Gurmukh's gift of the fruit of joy is kept safe in the Word.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਨਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ। ਪੇਈਅੜੈ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸੁ ਮਿਟੈ ਅੰਦੇਸਿਆ। ਆਸਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਨਿਰਾਸੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਅਵੇਸਿਆ। ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਰਹਰਾਸਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੰਦੇਸਿਆ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸ ਮਤ ਪਰਵੇਸਿਆ। ਸਿਮਰਣ ਸਾਸ ਗਿਰਾਸ ਦੇਸ ਵਿਦੇਸਿਆ ॥੭॥

guramukh man paragās gur upadesiā | peīaṛai ghar vās miṭai andesiā | āsā vich nirās giān avesiā | sādhasaṅgat raharās sabad sandesiā | guramukh dāsan dās mat paravesiā | simaraṇ sās girās des videsiā |7|

The Gurmukh's mind is lit up, taught by the Guru. Living in this world as in his parents' house, his worry is gone. In the middle of hope he hopes for nothing, and knowing fills him. The holy company is the way, and its message is the Word. The Gurmukh becomes the servant of servants, and wisdom comes in. His remembrance goes on with every breath and every mouthful, at home and away.

ਨਦੀ ਨਾਵ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ਮੇਲੁ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ। ਸੁਹਣੇ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਭੋਗੁ ਰਾਜੁ ਕਮਾਇਆ। ਕਦੇ ਹਰਖੁ ਕਦੇ ਸੋਗੁ ਤਰਵਰ ਛਾਇਆ। ਕਟੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਆਪੁ ਗਣਾਇਆ। ਘਰ ਹੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਜੋਗੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ। ਹੋਵਣਹਾਰ ਸੁ ਹੋਗੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਮਝਾਇਆ ॥੮॥

nadī nāv sañjog mel milāiā | suhaṇe andar bhog rāj kamāiā | kade harakh kade sog taravar chhāiā | kaṭai haumai rog na āp gaṇāiā | ghar hī andar jog guramukh pāiā | hovaṇahār su hog gur samajhāiā |8|

The meeting of river and boat is a joining made. In a dream a person enjoys pleasures and rules a kingdom. Now joy, now sorrow, like the shade of a tree. He cuts out the disease of pride and makes no show of himself. Inside his own home the Gurmukh finds union. Whatever is to be will be — so the Guru teaches.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ ਚਲਣੁ ਜਾਣਿਆ। ਚੇਤਿ ਬਸੰਤੁ ਸੁਰੰਗੁ ਸਭ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਣਿਆ। ਸਾਵਣ ਲਹਰਿ ਤਰੰਗ ਨੀਰੁ ਨੀਵਾਣਿਆ। ਸਜਣ ਮੇਲੁ ਸੁ ਢੰਗ ਚੋਜ ਵਿਡਾਣਿਆ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪੰਥੁ ਨਿਪੰਗੁ ਦਰਿ ਪਰਵਾਣਿਆ। ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮੇਲੁ ਅਭੰਗੁ ਸਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਣਿਆ ॥੯॥

guramukh sādhū saṅg chalaṇ jāṇiā | chet basant suraṅg sabh raṅg māṇiā | sāvaṇ lahar taraṅg nīr nīvāṇiā | sajaṇ mel su ḍhaṅg choj viḍāṇiā | guramukh panth nipaṅg dar paravāṇiā | guramat mel abhaṅg sat suhāṇiā |9|

The Gurmukh knows how to leave, in the holy company. In the fine spring month all the colours are enjoyed; in the rainy month the waves rise and the water runs low. Meeting the true friend, wonderful is the manner and the play. The Gurmukh's path is unmuddied, accepted at the Door. The Gurmukh's meeting is unbroken, true and lovely.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਫਲ ਜਨੰਮੁ ਜਗ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਇਆ। ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਪੂਰ ਕਰੰਮ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ। ਭਾਉ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਕੰਮ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਪਾਇਆ। ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਅਗੰਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸਾਇਆ। ਧੀਰਜੁ ਧੁਜਾ ਧਰੰਮੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇਆ। ਸਹੈ ਨ ਦੂਖ ਸਹੰਮੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਭਾਇਆ ॥੧੦॥

guramukh saphal janamm jag vich āiā | guramat pūr karamm āp gavāiā | bhāu bhagat kar kamm sukh phal pāiā | gur upades agamm ridai vasāiā | dhīraj dhujā dharamm sahaj subhāiā | sahai na dūkh sahamm bhāṇā bhāiā |10|

Fruitful is the Gurmukh's birth, come into the world. By the Guru's wisdom his deeds are full; he loses himself. Doing his work in loving devotion, he wins the fruit of joy. He sets the Guru's unreachable teaching in his heart. Patience is his banner, and right living his nature in ease. He carries no sorrow and no dread, for he loves God's Will.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੁਰਲਭ ਦੇਹ ਅਉਸਰੁ ਜਾਣਦੇ। ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਅਸਨੇਹ ਸਭ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਣਦੇ। ਸਬਦ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਲਿਵਲੇਹ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣਦੇ। ਦੇਹੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਬਿਦੇਹ ਸਚੁ ਸਿਞਾਣਦੇ। ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਓਹੁ ਨ ਏਹੁ ਇਕੁ ਪਛਾਣਦੇ। ਚਾਰਿ ਦਿਹਾੜੇ ਥੇਹੁ ਮਨ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਣਦੇ ॥੧੧॥

guramukh duralabh deh ausar jāṇade | sādhasaṅgat asaneh sabh raṅg māṇade | sabad surat livaleh ākh vakhāṇade | dehī vich bideh sach siñāṇade | dubidhā ohu na ehu ik pachhāṇade | chār dihāṛe thehu man vich āṇade |11|

The Gurmukhs know this rare body for the chance it is. In the holy company, free of clinging, they enjoy every colour. Awareness fixed in the Word, they speak and explain. Bodiless inside the body, they know the Truth. Past the two-ness of 'this and that', they know the One. They keep in mind that this dwelling lasts only four days.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਆਇਆ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੁਖ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਖੀ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਿਖਿ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਇਆ। ਸਚੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਮੁਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਸਚਿ ਸੁਹਾਇਆ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਵਾਰਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਤਰਾਇਆ ॥੧੨॥

guramukh paraupakārī viralā āiā | guramukh sukh phal pāi āp gavāiā | guramukh sākhī sabad sikh suṇāiā | guramukh sabad vīchār sach kamāiā | sach ridai muh sach sach suhāiā | guramukh janam savār jagat tarāiā |12|

Rare is the Gurmukh, the doer of good, who comes. Winning the fruit of joy, he loses himself. The Gurmukh tells the parable and the Word to the Sikh. Thinking on the Word, the Gurmukh lives the Truth. Truth in the heart, Truth in the mouth, made lovely by Truth. Gracing his own birth, the Gurmukh ferries the world across.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ॥ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਤਿ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਣਿਆ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਧੀਰਜੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਦਇਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਮਾਣਿਆ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਰਥ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਖਾਣਿਆ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਂਦੇ ਤਾਣ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਤਾਣਿਆ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਾਣੁ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਮਾਣਿਆ ॥੧੩॥

guramukh āp gavāi āp pachhāṇiā | guramukh sat santokh sahaj samāṇiā | guramukh dhīraj dharam daiā sukh māṇiā | guramukh arath vīchār sabad vakhāṇiā | guramukh honde tāṇ rahai nitāṇiā | guramukh daragah māṇ hoi nimāṇiā |13|

Losing himself, the Gurmukh knows the Self. In truth and contentment the Gurmukh melts into ease. Patience, right living and pity — the Gurmukh enjoys their peace. Thinking on the meaning, the Gurmukh explains the Word. Having strength, the Gurmukh stays as one with no strength. Honoured in the Court, the Gurmukh becomes the lowly one.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਵਾਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਚਲਿਆ। ਸਚੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਜਾਇ ਸਚਾ ਪਿੜ ਮਲਿਆ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਭਾਉ ਚਾਉ ਅਲਲਿਆ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਚਿਤੁ ਨ ਹਲੈ ਹਲਿਆ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚੁ ਅਲਾਉ ਭਲੀ ਹੂੰ ਭਲਿਆ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦੇ ਜਾਨਿ ਆਵਨਿ ਘਲਿਆ ॥੧੪॥

guramukh janam savār daragah chaliā | sachī daragah jāi sachā piṛ maliā | guramukh bhojan bhāu chāu alaliā | guramukh nihachal chit na halai haliā | guramukh sach alāu bhalī hūn bhaliā | guramukh sade jān āvan ghaliā |14|

Gracing his birth, the Gurmukh goes to the Court. Reaching the true Court, he holds the true field. The Gurmukh's food is love, and his sweetness is pure joy. The Gurmukh's mind is unshakable, and no shaking moves it. The Gurmukh speaks the Truth, the best of the best. The Gurmukhs, invited, know that they are sent and called back.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਧਿ ਅਸਾਧੁ ਸਾਧੁ ਵਖਾਣੀਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਬਿਬੇਕ ਬਿਬੇਕੀ ਜਾਣੀਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਾਉ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਗਤੁ ਪਛਾਣੀਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਬਾਣੀਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪੂਰਣ ਮਤਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਨੀਸਾਣੀਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਉੜੀ ਪਤਿ ਪਿਰਮੁ ਰਸੁ ਮਾਣੀਐ ॥੧੫॥

guramukh sādh asādh sādh vakhāṇīai | guramukh budh bibek bibekī jāṇīai | guramukh bhāu bhagat bhagat pachhāṇīai | guramukh braham giān giānī bāṇīai | guramukh pūraṇ mat sabad nīsāṇīai | guramukh pauṛī pat piram ras māṇīai |15|

The Gurmukh masters what cannot be mastered, and so is called a saint. The Gurmukh's wisdom, which tells true from false, is known as wisdom. The Gurmukh's loving devotion marks him as the devotee. The Gurmukh's knowing of God makes him the one who knows. The Gurmukh's perfect understanding is stamped by the Word. The Gurmukh's ladder of honour enjoys the sweetness of love.

ਸਚੁ ਨਾਉ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਈਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਓਅੰਕਾਰੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ਸਦਾ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚੁ ਅਚਾਰੁ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਈਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਈਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਨ ਪਛੋਤਾਈਐ ॥੧੬॥

The true Name of the Creator is gained through the Gurmukh. Through the Gurmukh, Onkar is meditated on in the Word. Through the Gurmukh, thinking on the Word, love is fixed forever. Through the Gurmukh, true conduct — Truth is lived. Through the Gurmukh, the door of freedom — he melts into ease. Through the Gurmukh, the Name is the support, and he never regrets it.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਰਸੁ ਪਰਸਿ ਪਾਰਸੁ ਹੋਈਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਇ ਅਪਰਸੁ ਦਰਸੁ ਅਲੋਈਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਖੋਈਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਰਧਨ ਰੂਪ ਨਿੰਦ ਨ ਗੋਈਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਉ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਿਲੋਈਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਸਦਾ ਜਾਇ ਅੰਤ ਨ ਰੋਈਐ ॥੧੭॥

guramukh pāras paras pāras hoīai | guramukh hoi aparas daras aloīai | guramukh braham dhiān dubidhā khoīai | guramukh paradhan rūp nind na goīai | guramukh ammrit nāu sabad viloīai | guramukh hasadā jāi ant na roīai |17|

Touching the gold-making stone, the Gurmukh becomes that stone. Becoming untouched, the Gurmukh sees the vision. The Gurmukh's meditation on God loses the seeing of two. The Gurmukh does not look at another's wealth or beauty, and speaks no slander. The Gurmukh churns the nectar-Name in the Word. The Gurmukh goes laughing, and does not weep at the end.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਹੋਇ ਜਗ ਪਰਬੋਧੀਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ਅੰਦਰੁ ਸੋਧੀਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਨ ਕਾਮੁ ਕਰੋਧੀਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੈ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਨ ਵੈਰ ਵਿਰੋਧੀਐ। ਚਹੁ ਵਰਨਾ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮੋਧੀਐ। ਧੰਨੁ ਜਣੇਦੀ ਮਾਉ ਜੋਧਾ ਜੋਧੀਐ ॥੧੮॥

guramukh paṇḍit hoi jag parabodhīai | guramukh āp gavāi andar sodhīai | guramukh sat santokh na kām karodhīai | guramukh hai niravair na vair virodhīai | chahu varanā upades sahaj samodhīai | dhann jaṇedī māu jodhā jodhīai |18|

Becoming a teacher, the Gurmukh wakes the world up. Losing himself, the Gurmukh searches inside. The Gurmukh has truth and contentment, and no lust or anger. The Gurmukh has no enmity, no feud and no spite. Teaching the four castes, he merges them in ease. Blessed is the mother who bore him, a hero among heroes.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਾਹ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਲਾਹੀਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਸਲਾਹ ਸਚੀ ਪਤਿਸਾਹੀਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚੁ ਸਨਾਹੁ ਦਾਦਿ ਇਲਾਹੀਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਾਡੀ ਰਾਹੁ ਸਚੁ ਨਿਬਾਹੀਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਤਿ ਅਗਾਹੁ ਗਾਹਣਿ ਗਾਹੀਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੇਪਰਵਾਹ ਨ ਬੇਪਰਵਾਹੀਐ ॥੧੯॥

guramukh satigur vāh sabad salāhīai | guramukh siphat salāh sachī patisāhīai | guramukh sach sanāhu dād ilāhīai | guramukh gāḍī rāhu sach nibāhīai | guramukh mat agāhu gāhaṇ gāhīai | guramukh beparavāh na beparavāhīai |19|

The Gurmukh praises the True Guru with 'Vah!' — 'Wonderful!' — in the Word. The Gurmukh's praise and adoration is the true kingdom. The Gurmukh's armour is Truth, a gift from God. The Gurmukh keeps to the true highway right to the end. The Gurmukh's wisdom is deep; he dives in and plumbs it. The Gurmukh is carefree, and yet never careless.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪੂਰਾ ਤੋਲੁ ਨ ਤੋਲਣਿ ਤੋਲੀਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪੂਰਾ ਬੋਲ ਨ ਬੋਲਣਿ ਬੋਲੀਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਤਿ ਅਡੋਲ ਨ ਡੋਲਣਿ ਡੋਲੀਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਿਰਮ ਅਮੋਲੁ ਨ ਮੋਲਣਿ ਮੋਲੀਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪੰਥ ਨਿਰੋਲੁ ਨ ਰੋਲਣਿ ਰੋਲੀਐ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਅਲੋਲੁ ਪੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਝੋਲੀਐ ॥੨੦॥

guramukh pūrā tol na tolaṇ tolīai | guramukh pūrā bol na bolaṇ bolīai | guramukh mat aḍol na ḍolaṇ ḍolīai | guramukh piram amol na molaṇ molīai | guramukh panth nirol na rolaṇ rolīai | guramukh sabad alol pī ammrit jholīai |20|

The Gurmukh is a full weight, not to be weighed on any scale. The Gurmukh's word is perfect, not to be out-talked. The Gurmukh's wisdom is steady, not to be shaken. The Gurmukh's love is priceless, not to be priced. The Gurmukh's path is pure, not to be muddied. The Gurmukh's Word never wavers; drink it and taste the nectar.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੁਖਫਲ ਪਾਇ ਸਭ ਫਲ ਪਾਇਆ। ਰੰਗੁ ਸੁਰੰਗੁ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਇ ਸਭ ਰੰਗ ਲਾਇਆ। ਗੰਧ ਸੁਗੰਧਿ ਸਮਾਇ ਬੋਹਿ ਬੁਹਾਇਆ। ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਰਸ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਇ ਸਭ ਰਸ ਆਇਆ। ਸਬਦ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਲਿਵਲਾਇ ਅਨਹਦ ਵਾਇਆ। ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਜਾਇ ਨ ਦਹਦਿਸਿ ਧਾਇਆ ॥੨੧॥੧੯॥

guramukh sukhaphal pāi sabh phal pāiā | raṅg suraṅg chaṛhāi sabh raṅg lāiā | gandh sugandh samāi boh buhāiā | ammritaras tripatāi sabh ras āiā | sabad surat livalāi anahad vāiā | nij ghar nihachal jāi na dahadis dhāiā |21|19|

Winning the fruit of joy, the Gurmukh wins every fruit. Taking on the fast colour of love, he takes on every shade. Merging into fragrance, he perfumes everything with scent. Filled with nectar-sweetness, every taste comes to him. Awareness fixed in the Word, the melody no one plays sounds out. He reaches his own unshakable home, and does not run off in ten directions.
