ਕਾਮ ਲਖ ਕਰਿ ਕਾਮਨਾ ਬਹੁ ਰੂਪੀ ਸੋਹੈ। ਲਖ ਕਰੋਪ ਕਰੋਧ ਕਰਿ ਦੁਸਮਨ ਹੁਇ ਜੋਹੈ। ਲਖ ਲੋਭ ਲਖ ਲਖਮੀ ਹੁਇ ਧੋਹਣ ਧੋਹੈ। ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਕਰੋੜ ਮਿਲਿ ਹੁਇ ਬਹੁ ਗੁਣ ਸੋਹੈ। ਅਸੁਰ ਸੰਘਾਰਿ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਲਖ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਰਿ ਛੋਹੈ। ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਸੁਣਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਨ ਪੋਹੈ ॥੧॥

kām lakh kar kāmanā bahu rūpī sohai | lakh karop karodh kar dusaman hui johai | lakh lobh lakh lakhamī hui dhohaṇ dhohai | māiā moh karoṛ mil hui bahu guṇ sohai | asur saṅghār haṅkār lakh haumai kar chhohai | sādhasaṅgat gur sikh suṇ gur sikh na pohai |1|

Though lust make a hundred thousand desires, dressing itself in many forms; though anger, with a hundred thousand rages, spy like an enemy; though a hundred thousand greeds and a hundred thousand goddesses of wealth cheat with their cheating; though clinging to maya, millions joined, allure with many charms; though pride, slaying the demons, raise its hundred thousand hot flushes of self — hearing the Guru's Word in the holy company, the Guru's Sikh is not touched.

ਲਖ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਲਖ ਕਾਮਰੂਪ ਲਖ ਕਾਮਣਿਆਰੀ। ਸੰਗਲਦੀਪਹੁਂ ਪਦਮਣੀ ਬਹੁ ਰੂਪਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੀ। ਮੋਹਣੀਆਂ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਾਪੁਰੀ ਅਪਛਰਾਂ ਸੁਚਾਰੀ। ਹੂਰਾਂ ਪਰੀਆਂ ਲਖ ਲਖ ਬਹਿਸਤ ਸਵਾਰੀ। ਲਖ ਕਉਲਾਂ ਨਵ ਜੋਬਨੀ ਲਖ ਕਾਮ ਕਰਾਰੀ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪੋਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਨੀ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਭਾਰੀ ॥੨॥

lakh kāmaṇ lakh kāmarūp lakh kāmaṇiārī | saṅgaladīpahun padamaṇī bahu rūp sīgārī | mohaṇīān indrāpurī apachharān suchārī | hūrān parīān lakh lakh bahisat savārī | lakh kaulān nav jobanī lakh kām karārī | guramukh poh na sakanī sādhasaṅgat bhārī |2|

A hundred thousand enchantresses, a hundred thousand sorceresses, a hundred thousand love-witches; the perfect beauty of the southern isle, adorned in many forms; the seductresses of Indra's city, the lovely heavenly dancers; a hundred thousand fair women of paradise; a hundred thousand beauties in fresh youth, a hundred thousand fierce lusts — they cannot touch the Gurmukh, held by the great holy company.

ਲਖ ਦੁਰਯੋਧਨ ਕੰਸ ਲਖ ਲਖ ਦੈਤ ਲੜੰਦੇ। ਲਖ ਰਾਵਣ ਕੁੰਭਕਰਣ ਲਖ ਲਖ ਰਾਕਸ ਮੰਦੇ। ਪਰਸਰਾਮ ਲਖ ਸਹਂਸਬਾਹੁ ਕਰਿ ਖੁਦੀ ਖਹੰਦੇ। ਹਰਨਕਸਪ ਹਰਣਾਕਸਾ ਨਰਸਿੰਘ ਬੁਕੰਦੇ। ਲਖ ਕਰੋਧ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਲਖ ਲਖ ਵੈਰੁ ਕਰੰਦੇ। ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਪੋਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਈ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲੰਦੇ ॥੩॥

A hundred thousand Duryodhanas, a hundred thousand Kanses, a hundred thousand demons fighting; a hundred thousand Ravans, a hundred thousand Kumbhkarans, a hundred thousand evil giants; a hundred thousand Parasrams and Sahasrabahus clashing in pride; Harnakash and Hiranyaksha, and the roaring man-lion; a hundred thousand angers and strifes, a hundred thousand doing enmity — they cannot touch the Guru's Sikh, met in the holy company.

ਸੋਇਨਾ ਰੁਪਾ ਲਖ ਮਣਾ ਲਖ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ। ਮੋਤੀ ਮਾਣਿਕ ਹੀਰਿਆਂ ਬਹੁ ਮੋਲ ਅਪਾਰਾ। ਦੇਸ ਵੇਸ ਲਖ ਰਾਜ ਭਾਗ ਪਰਗਣੇ ਹਜਾਰਾ। ਰਿਧੀ ਸਿਧੀ ਜੋਗ ਭੋਗ ਅਭਰਣ ਸੀਗਾਰਾ। ਕਾਮਧੇਨੁ ਲਖ ਪਾਰਜਾਤਿ ਚਿੰਤਾਮਣਿ ਪਾਰਾ। ਚਾਰ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਸਗਲ ਫਲ ਲਖ ਲੋਭ ਉਭਾਰਾ। ਗੁਰ ਸਿਖ ਪੋਹ ਨ ਹੰਘਨੀ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਉਧਾਰਾ ॥੪॥

soinā rupā lakh maṇā lakh bhare bhaṇḍārā | motī māṇik hīriān bahu mol apārā | des ves lakh rāj bhāg paragaṇe hajārā | ridhī sidhī jog bhog abharaṇ sīgārā | kāmadhen lakh pārajāt chintāmaṇ pārā | chār padārath sagal phal lakh lobh ubhārā | gur sikh poh na haṅghanī sādhasaṅg udhārā |4|

Gold and silver by the hundred thousand loads, a hundred thousand filled storehouses; pearls, rubies and diamonds of boundless price; lands, dress, a hundred thousand kingdoms and fortunes, a thousand districts; wealth-powers, miracle powers, yoga, enjoyment, ornaments and adornments; a hundred thousand wish-granting cows, wish-granting trees and wish-granting jewels; the four great gifts and all the fruits, and a hundred thousand greeds rising up — they cannot touch the Guru's Sikh, delivered in the holy company.

ਪਿਉ ਪੁਤ ਮਾਵੜ ਧੀਵੜੀ ਹੁਇ ਭੈਣ ਭਿਰਾਵਾ। ਨਾਰਿ ਭਤਾਰੁ ਪਿਆਰ ਲਖ ਮਨ ਮੇਲ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ। ਸੁੰਦਰ ਮੰਦਰ ਚਿਤ੍ਰਸਾਲ ਬਾਗ ਫੁਲ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ। ਰਾਗ ਰੰਗ ਰਸ ਰੂਪ ਲਖ ਬਹੁ ਭੋਗ ਭੁਲਾਵਾ। ਲਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਲਖ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਹੁਇ ਮੁਦਈ ਦਾਵਾ। ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਪੋਹਿ ਨ ਹੰਘਨੀ ਸਾਧਸੰਗ ਸੁਹਾਵਾ ॥੫॥

piu put māvaṛ dhīvaṛī hui bhaiṇ bhirāvā | nār bhatār piār lakh man mel milāvā | sundar mandar chitrasāl bāg phul suhāvā | rāg raṅg ras rūp lakh bahu bhog bhulāvā | lakh māiā lakh moh mil hui mudaī dāvā | gur sikh poh na haṅghanī sādhasaṅg suhāvā |5|

Father, son, mother, daughter, becoming sister and brother; the love of wife and husband, a hundred thousand hearts joined; lovely palaces, painted halls, gardens fair with flowers; melody, colour, sweetness and beauty, a hundred thousand of them, fooling with much enjoyment; a hundred thousand mayas, a hundred thousand clingings met, becoming a plaintiff pressing his claim — they cannot touch the Guru's Sikh, lovely in the holy company.

ਵਰਨਾਵਰਨ ਨ ਭਾਵਨੀ ਕਰਿ ਖੁਦੀ ਖਹੰਦੇ। ਜੰਗਲ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸੀਂਹ ਦੁਇ ਬਲਵੰਤ ਬੁਕੰਦੇ। ਹਾਥੀ ਹਥਿਆਈ ਕਰਨ ਮਤਵਾਲੇ ਹੁਇ ਅੜੀ ਅੜੰਦੇ। ਰਾਜ ਭੂਪ ਰਾਜੇ ਵਡੇ ਮਲ ਦੇਸ ਲੜੰਦੇ। ਮੁਲਕ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਾਤਸਾਹ ਦੁਇ ਜਾਇ ਜੰਗ ਜੁੜੰਦੇ। ਹਉਮੈ ਕਰਿ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਲਖ ਮਲ ਮਲ ਘੁਲੰਦੇ। ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਪੋਹਿ ਨ ਸਕਨੀ ਸਾਧੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਵਸੰਦੇ ॥੬॥

varanāvaran na bhāvanī kar khudī khahande | jaṅgal andar sīnh dui balavant bukande | hāthī hathiāī karan matavāle hui aṛī aṛande | rāj bhūp rāje vaḍe mal des laṛande | mulak andar pātasāh dui jāi jaṅg juṛande | haumai kar haṅkār lakh mal mal ghulande | gur sikh poh na sakanī sādh saṅg vasande |6|

Caste and outcaste do not like each other, and clash in pride; two lions in the jungle roaring in their strength; elephants seizing by force, drunk, locked in stubborn struggle; kings and great rulers grappling over lands; two emperors in one realm going out to join in war; a hundred thousand, in pride and self-importance, wrestling and wrestling — they cannot touch the Guru's Sikh, living in the holy company.

ਗੋਰਖ ਜਤੀ ਸਦਾਇੰਦਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਘਰਬਾਰੀ। ਸੁਕਰ ਕਾਣਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਦੁਰਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ। ਲਖਮਣ ਸਾਧੀ ਭੁਖ ਤੇਹ ਹਉਮੈ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ। ਹਨੂੰਮਾਨ ਬਲਵੰਤ ਹੋਇ ਚੰਚਲ ਮਤਿ ਖਾਰੀ। ਭੈਰਉ ਭੂਤ ਕੁਸੂਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਉਰਧਾਰੀ। ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਜਤੀ ਸਲਾਹੀਅਨਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀ ॥੭॥

gorakh jatī sadāindā tis gur gharabārī | sukar kāṇā hoiā duramantr vīchārī | lakhamaṇ sādhī bhukh teh haumai ahaṅkārī | hanūmmān balavant hoi chañchal mat khārī | bhairau bhūt kusūt saṅg duramat uradhārī | gurasikh jatī salāhīan jin haumai mārī |7|

Gorakh calls himself celibate, and yet his own Guru was a householder. Sukra became one-eyed, thinking over an evil spell. Lakshman conquered hunger, and did it in pride. Hanuman was strong, and of a restless, ill mind. Bhairav is in bad company with ghosts, holding to bad thinking. The Guru's Sikhs are the true celibates, and they are praised — for they have killed their pride.

ਹਰੀ ਚੰਦ ਸਤਿ ਰਖਿਆ ਜਾਇ ਨਿਖਾਸ ਵਿਕਾਣਾ। ਬਲ ਛਲਿਆ ਸਤ ਪਾਲਦਾ ਪਾਤਾਲਿ ਸਿਧਾਣਾ। ਕਰਨੁ ਸੁ ਕੰਚਨ ਦਾਨ ਕਰਿ ਅੰਤੁ ਪਛੋਤਾਣਾ। ਸਤਿਵਾਦੀ ਹੁਇ ਧਰਮ ਪੁਤੁ ਕੂੜ ਜਮਪੁਰਿ ਜਾਣਾ। ਜਤੀ ਸਤੀ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਆ ਹਉਮੈ ਗਰਬਾਣਾ। ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਰੋਮ ਨ ਪੁਜਨੀ ਬਹੁ ਮਾਣ ਨਿਮਾਣਾ ॥੮॥

harī chand sat rakhiā jāi nikhās vikāṇā | bal chhaliā sat pāladā pātāl sidhāṇā | karan su kañchan dān kar ant pachhotāṇā | sativādī hui dharam put kūṛ jamapur jāṇā | jatī satī santokhīā haumai garabāṇā | gurasikh rom na pujanī bahu māṇ nimāṇā |8|

Harichand kept his truth, and went to be sold in the market. Bali was outwitted, keeping his truth, and went down to the world below. Karan gave gold in charity, and was sorry for it at the last. Being truthful, the son of Right Living went briefly to Death's city over one lie. Celibates, the truthful and the contented — all of them in pride and self-importance. They do not reach a hair of the Guru's Sikh, who is greatly honoured in his lowliness.

ਮੁਸਲਮਾਣਾਂ ਹਿੰਦੂਆਂ ਦੁਇ ਰਾਹ ਚਲਾਏ। ਮਜਹਬ ਵਰਨ ਗਣਾਇਂਦੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੀਰੁ ਸਦਾਏ। ਸਿਖ ਮੁਰੀਦ ਪਖੰਡ ਕਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ। ਰਾਮ ਰਹੀਮ ਧਿਆਇਂਦੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਗਰਬਾਏ। ਮਕਾ ਗੰਗ ਬਨਾਰਸੀ ਪੂਜ ਜਾਰਤ ਆਏ। ਰੋਜੇ ਵਰਤ ਨਮਾਜ਼ ਕਰਿ ਡੰਡਉਤ ਕਰਾਏ। ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਰੋਮ ਨ ਪੁਜਨੀ ਜੋ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥੯॥

musalamāṇān hindūān dui rāh chalāe | majahab varan gaṇāinde gur pīr sadāe | sikh murīd pakhaṇḍ kar upades driṛāe | rām rahīm dhiāinde haumai garabāe | makā gaṅg banārasī pūj jārat āe | roje varat namāza kar ḍaṇḍaut karāe | gur sikh rom na pujanī jo āp gavāe |9|

The Muslims and Hindus set two roads going. Counting creeds and castes, they call themselves guru and master. Making Sikhs and followers by pretence, they make their teaching firm. Meditating on Ram and Rahim, they are proud in their pride. To Mecca, the Ganga and Banaras they come on pilgrimage and worship. Doing fasts, vows and prayers, and making their prostrations — they do not reach a hair of the Guru's Sikh, who loses himself.

ਛਿਅ ਦਰਸਨ ਵਰਤਾਇਆ ਚਉਦਹ ਖਨਵਾਦੇ। ਘਰੈ ਘੁੰਮਿ ਘਰਬਾਰੀਆ ਅਸਵਾਰ ਪਿਆਦੇ। ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਦਸ ਨਾਮ ਧਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵਾਦ ਕਵਾਦੇ। ਰਾਵਲ ਬਾਰਹ ਪੰਥ ਕਰਿ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਉਦਮਾਦੇ। ਜੈਨੀ ਜੂਠ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਜੂਠੇ ਪਰਸਾਦੇ। ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਰੋਮ ਨ ਪੁਜਨੀ ਧੁਰਿ ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦੇ ॥੧੦॥

chhia darasan varatāiā chaudah khanavāde | gharai ghumm gharabārīā asavār piāde | sanniāsī das nām dhar kar vād kavāde | rāval bārah panth kar phirade udamāde | jainī jūṭh na utarai jūṭhe parasāde | gur sikh rom na pujanī dhur ād jugāde |10|

The six schools are spread abroad, and the fourteen family lines; the householders in house after house, mounted and on foot; those who renounce take ten names, doing their quarrels and disputes; the Rawal yogis make twelve sects, wandering about in a frenzy; the Jains' impurity never lifts, and their food is impure — they do not reach a hair of the Guru's Sikh, who is from the very beginning of the ages.

ਬਹੁ ਸੁੰਨੀ ਸੀਅ ਰਾਫਜੀ ਮਜਹਬ ਮਨ ਭਾਣੇ। ਮੁਲਹਿਦ ਹੋਇ ਮੁਨਾਫਕਾ ਸਭ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਣੇ। ਈਸਾਈ ਮੂਸਾਈਆਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਹੈਰਾਣੇ। ਹੋਇ ਫਿਰੰਗੀ ਅਰਮਨੀ ਰੂਮੀ ਗਰਬਾਣੇ। ਕਾਲੀ ਪੋਸ ਕਲੰਦਰਾ ਦਰਵੇਸ ਦੁਗਾਣੇ। ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ਰੋਮ ਨ ਪੁਜਨੀ ਗੁਰ ਹਟਿ ਵਿਕਾਣੇ ॥੧੧॥

bahu sunnī sīa rāphajī majahab man bhāṇe | mulahid hoi munāphakā sabh bharam bhulāṇe | īsāī mūsāīān haumai hairāṇe | hoi phiraṅgī aramanī rūmī garabāṇe | kālī pos kalandarā daraves dugāṇe | gur sikh rom na pujanī gur haṭ vikāṇe |11|

Many Sunnis, Shias and Rafizis, each creed pleasing to its own mind; heretics and hypocrites, all lost in doubt; Christians and followers of Moses, astonished in their pride; becoming Franks, Armenians and Romans, and proud; the black-clad wanderers, the dervishes of two coins — they do not reach a hair of the Guru's Sikh, who is sold in the Guru's shop.

ਜਪ ਤਪ ਸੰਜਮ ਸਾਧਨਾ ਹਠ ਨਿਗ੍ਰਹ ਕਰਣੇ। ਵਰਤ ਨੇਮ ਤੀਰਥ ਘਣੇ ਅਧਿਆਤਮ ਧਰਣੇ। ਦੇਵੀ ਦੇਵਾ ਦੇਹੁਰੇ ਪੂਜਾ ਪਰਵਰਣੇ। ਹੋਮ ਜਗ ਬਹੁ ਦਾਨ ਕਰਿ ਮੁਖ ਵੇਦ ਉਚਰਣੇ। ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਭੈ ਭਰਮ ਵਿਚਿ ਬਹੁ ਜੰਮਣ ਮਰਣੇ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਤਰਣੇ ॥੧੨॥

jap tap sañjam sādhanā haṭh nigrah karaṇe | varat nem tīrath ghaṇe adhiātam dharaṇe | devī devā dehure pūjā paravaraṇe | hom jag bahu dān kar mukh ved ucharaṇe | karam dharam bhai bharam vich bahu jammaṇ maraṇe | guramukh sukh phal sādhasaṅg mil dutar taraṇe |12|

Chants, hard disciplines, self-denial and penances, forced control of the breath; many fasts, vows and pilgrimages, holding to inner practice; goddesses, gods and temples, worship in the family; fire-offerings, sacrifices, much charity, reciting the Veda by mouth; in rites and duties, in fear and doubt, there is much birth and death. The Gurmukh's fruit of joy, meeting the holy company, crosses the hard sea.

ਉਦੇ ਅਸਤਿ ਵਿਚਿ ਰਾਜ ਕਰਿ ਚਕ੍ਰਵਰਤਿ ਘਨੇਰੇ। ਅਰਬ ਖਰਬ ਲੈ ਦਰਬ ਨਿਧਿ ਰਸ ਭੋਗਿ ਚੰਗੇਰੇ। ਨਰਪਤਿ ਸੁਰਪਤਿ ਛਤ੍ਰਪਤਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਘੇਰੇ। ਸਿਵ ਲੋਕਹੁਂ ਚੜੑਹਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਲੋਕ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਵਸੇਰੇ। ਚਿਰ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਬਹੁ ਹੰਢਣਾ ਹੋਹਿ ਵਡੇ ਵਡੇਰੇ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਅਗਮੁ ਹੈ ਹੁਇ ਭਲੇ ਭਲੇਰੇ ॥੧੩॥

ude asat vich rāj kar chakravarat ghanere | arab kharab lai darab nidh ras bhog chaṅgere | narapat surapat chhatrapat haumai vich ghere | siv lokahun chaṛhh braham lok baikuṇṭh vasere | chir jīvaṇ bahu haṇḍhaṇā hoh vaḍe vaḍere | guramukh sukh phal agam hai hui bhale bhalere |13|

Ruling from sunrise to sunset, the many world-emperors; taking wealth and treasure past counting, and enjoying good things; lords of men, of gods, of the canopy — ringed round with pride; climbing from Shiva's realm to Brahma's, and living in paradise; long life and much endurance, becoming the greatest of the great — the Gurmukh's fruit of joy is past reaching, the goodness of the good.

ਰੂਪ ਅਨੂਪ ਸਰੂਪ ਲਖ ਹੁਇ ਰੰਗ ਬਿਰੰਗੀ। ਰਾਗ ਨਾਦ ਸੰਬਾਦ ਲਖ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਅਭੰਗੀ। ਗੰਧ ਸੁਗੰਧਿ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਲਖ ਅਰਗਜੇ ਅਦੰਗੀ। ਛਤੀਹ ਭੋਜਨ ਪਾਕਸਾਲ ਰਸ ਭੋਗ ਸੁਢੰਗੀ। ਪਾਟ ਪਟੰਬਰ ਗਹਿਣਿਆਂ ਸੋਹਹਿਂ ਸਰਬੰਗੀ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਅਗਮ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੁਸਿਖ ਸਹਲੰਗੀ ॥੧੪॥

rūp anūp sarūp lakh hui raṅg biraṅgī | rāg nād sambād lakh saṅgat abhaṅgī | gandh sugandh milāp lakh aragaje adaṅgī | chhatīh bhojan pākasāl ras bhog suḍhaṅgī | pāṭ paṭambar gahiṇiān sohahn sarabaṅgī | guramukh sukh phal agam hai gurusikh sahalaṅgī |14|

A hundred thousand matchless forms and shapes, of many colours; a hundred thousand melodies, tunes and discourses, in unbroken company; a hundred thousand scents and fragrances met, and boundless perfumes; thirty-six dishes in the kitchen, sweets well served; silks, fine robes and ornaments, gracing every limb — the Gurmukh's fruit of joy is past reaching, and the Guru's Sikh is its companion.

ਲਖ ਮਤਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਸੁਧਿ ਉਕਤਿ ਲਖ ਲਖ ਲਖ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ। ਲਖ ਬਲ ਬਚਨ ਬਿਬੇਕ ਲਖ ਪਰਕਿਰਤਿ ਕਮਾਈ। ਲਖ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਲਖ ਲਖ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਘੜਾਈ। ਗਿਆਨ ਧਿਆਨ ਸਿਮਰਣ ਸਹੰਸ ਲਖ ਪਤਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ। ਹਉਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਵਰਤਣਾ ਦਰਿ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਪਾਈ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਅਗਮ ਹੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੧੫॥

A hundred thousand kinds of understanding, mind and expression, a hundred thousand clevernesses; a hundred thousand strengths, words and discernments, a hundred thousand skills earned; a hundred thousand shrewdnesses and awarenesses, a hundred thousand awarenesses shaped; countless knowings, meditations and rememberings, honour and greatness — but moving in pride, a man finds no place at the Door. The Gurmukh's fruit of joy is past reaching, in the True Guru's shelter.

ਸਤਿ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਦਇਆ ਧਰਮੁ ਲਖ ਅਰਥ ਮਿਲਾਹੀ। ਧਰਤਿ ਅਗਾਸ ਪਾਣੀ ਪਵਣ ਲਖ ਤੇਜ ਤਪਾਹੀ। ਖਿਮਾਂ ਧੀਰਜ ਲਖ ਲਖ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਸਰਮਾਹੀ। ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖ ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤਾ ਭਾਉ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਾਹੀ। ਸਗਲ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਸਗਲ ਫਲ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਧਾਹੀ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਪਿਰਮ ਰਸ ਇਕ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਪੁਜਾਹੀ ॥੧੬॥

sat santokh daiā dharam lakh arath milāhī | dharat agās pāṇī pavaṇ lakh tej tapāhī | khimān dhīraj lakh lakh mil sobhā saramāhī | sānt sahaj sukh sukritā bhāu bhagat karāhī | sagal padārath sagal phal ānand vadhāhī | guramukh sukh phal piram ras ik til na pujāhī |16|

Truth, contentment, pity, right living — a hundred thousand riches met; earth, sky, water, air, a hundred thousand fiery splendours; forgiveness and patience, met a hundred thousand times over, glowing in glory; peace, ease, joy and good deeds, doing love and devotion; every good thing, every fruit, swelling into bliss — and they do not reach a single seed's weight of the Gurmukh's fruit of joy, the sweetness of love.

ਲਖ ਲਖ ਜੋਗ ਧਿਆਨ ਮਿਲਿ ਧਰਿ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਬਹੰਦੇ। ਲਖ ਲਖ ਸੁੰਨ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਸਾਧਿ ਨਿਜ ਆਸਣ ਸੰਦੇ। ਲਖ ਸੇਖ ਸਿਮਰਣ ਕਰਹਿਂ ਗੁਣ ਗਿਆਨ ਗਣੰਦੇ। ਮਹਿਮਾਂ ਲਖ ਮਹਾਤਮਾਂ ਜੈਕਾਰ ਕਰੰਦੇ। ਉਸਤਤਿ ਉਪਮਾਂ ਲਖ ਲਖ ਲਖ ਭਗਤ ਜਪੰਦੇ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਪਿਰਮ ਰਸ ਇਕ ਪਲ ਨ ਲਹੰਦੇ ॥੧੭॥

A hundred thousand meet and fix their meditation, sitting in trance; a hundred thousand practise the empty stillness, in their own posture; a hundred thousand serpent-kings do their remembering, reckoning up goodness and knowledge; a hundred thousand great souls of great glory cry their hail; a hundred thousand praises and eulogies, a hundred thousand devotees chanting — and they never win a single instant of the Gurmukh's fruit of joy, the sweetness of love.

ਅਚਰਜ ਨੋ ਆਚਰਜੁ ਹੈ ਅਚਰਜੁ ਹੋਵੰਦਾ। ਵਿਸਮਾਦੇ ਵਿਸਮਾਦੁ ਹੈ ਵਿਸਮਾਦੁ ਰਹੰਦਾ। ਹੈਰਾਣੇ ਹੈਰਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਹੈਰਾਣੁ ਕਰੰਦਾ। ਅਬਿਗਤਹੁਂ ਅਬਿਗਤੁ ਹੈ ਨਹਿਂ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖੰਦਾ। ਅਕਥਹੁਂ ਅਕਥ ਅਲੇਖ ਹੈ ਨੇਤਿ ਨੇਤਿ ਸੁਣੰਦਾ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਪਿਰਮ ਰਸ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਚਵੰਦਾ ॥੧੮॥

acharaj no ācharaj hai acharaj hovandā | visamāde visamād hai visamād rahandā | hairāṇe hairāṇ hai hairāṇ karandā | abigatahun abigat hai nahn alakh lakhandā | akathahun akath alekh hai net net suṇandā | guramukh sukh phal piram ras vāhu vāhu chavandā |18|

To wonder it is a wonder, becoming a wonder; to rapture it is a rapture, and stays rapture; to amazement it is amazement, causing amazement; more hidden than the hidden, and the unseen is not seen; more untold than the untold, past writing, heard as 'not this, not this'. The Gurmukh's fruit of joy, the sweetness of love, cries 'Wonderful, wonderful!'

ਇਕ ਕਵਾਉ ਪਸਾਉ ਕਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਪਸਾਰੇ। ਕਰਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਕਰੋੜ ਲਖ ਰੋਮ ਰੋਮ ਸੰਜਾਰੇ। ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪੂਰਣ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗੁਰੁ ਰੂਪੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੇ। ਗੁਰੁ ਚੇਲਾ ਚੇਲਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ। ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਚ ਖੰਡ ਹੈ ਵਾਸਾ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੇ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਪਿਰਮ ਰਸ ਦੇਹਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੇ ॥੧੯॥

ik kavāu pasāu kar brahamaṇḍ pasāre | kar brahamaṇḍ karoṛ lakh rom rom sañjāre | pārabraham pūraṇ braham gur rūp murāre | gur chelā chelā gurū gur sabad vīchāre | sādhasaṅgat sach khaṇḍ hai vāsā niraṅkāre | guramukh sukh phal piram ras deh haumai māre |19|

With one Word's expanse He spread out the universe; making millions of universes, He wove them into every hair. The Highest One, the perfect Brahm, the Guru, the very form of God; Guru the disciple, disciple the Guru, thinking on the Guru's Word. The holy company is the land of truth, the dwelling of the Formless One. The Gurmukh's fruit of joy, the sweetness of love, is given — by killing the body's pride.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਉ ਹੈ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਸੋਈ। ਗੁਰੁ ਅੰਗਦੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਅੰਗ ਤੇ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮੋਈ। ਅਮਰਾਪਦ ਗੁਰੁ ਅੰਗਦਹੁਂ ਹੁਇ ਜਾਣੁ ਜਣੋਈ। ਗੁਰੁ ਅਮਰਹੁਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਭੋਈ। ਰਾਮਦਾਸਹੁਂ ਅਰਜਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਬਦ ਸਥੋਈ। ਹਰਿਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗੁਰੁ ਅਰਜਨਹੁਂ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਹੋਈ। ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਸੁਖ ਫਲ ਪਿਰਮ ਰਸ ਸਤਿਸੰਗ ਅਲੋਈ। ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦਹੁਂ ਬਾਹਿਰਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੋਈ ॥੨੦॥੩੮॥

satigur nānak deu hai paramesur soī | gur aṅgad gur aṅg te jotī jot samoī | amarāpad gur aṅgadahun hui jāṇ jaṇoī | gur amarahun gurū rāmadās ammrit ras bhoī | rāmadāsahun arajan gurū gur sabad sathoī | harigovind gur arajanahun gur govind hoī | guramukh sukh phal piram ras satisaṅg aloī | gur govindahun bāhirā dūjā nahīn koī |20|38|

The True Guru Nanak Dev is that very Highest Lord. Guru Angad, out of the Guru's body, light merged into Light. The deathless state out of Guru Angad — become the Knower, who knows everything. Out of Guru Amar, Guru Ramdas, tasting the nectar-sweetness. Out of Ramdas, Guru Arjan, companion of the Guru's Word. Hargobind out of Guru Arjan, become Guru-Govind. The Gurmukh's fruit of joy, the sweetness of love, is seen in the holy company. Beyond Guru-Govind there is nothing else at all.
